In the past year, when we have been most apart from our planet, I made it my mission to find out as much as I can about the wonders of our world. Particularly the things I find scary or unnerving. I used to be terrified of arachnids, now it is my dream to own tarantulas, simply because I exposed myself to them and learned about them. 30 mins ago I found fungi unnerving, I know want to know more about them and find out what kinds are around me. Life is beautiful, and if you are afraid of any part of it, then you should learn as much as you can about it, and if you can, experience it as much as you can. It really has helped to change my view of the world, and made me notice so much more in the nature around me. I'm lucky to live in Orkney, and we have beautiful scenery and a lot of land that hasn't been covered in concrete. I now take regular trips to the local woods and shorelines to see what I can find, and to make myself more in tune with nature. I recommend you try the same.

(Dang I was ambitious. xD "I'll multitask! :D")

4 dni temu
Reicha
Reicha

This is amazing! Although - With the rising understanding of fungal infections in humans, and how much more common they might actually be than was always thought, I will admit I'm a bit scared of the ones that survived the fires. We had a possible fungal-adjacent infection in our water, that I wish I had had the camera to photograph (I couldn't help allowing a container of water be and see the development) - it's reported so very hard to kill in nature that I was somewhat panicking: "Kill it with fire! We'll, uh, we'll BURN the water!" "Boil it?" "Right, yeah, sure!" Now you're telling me not even fire kills some fungi? Oh no... (But I mean, if they survive fire - maybe they deserve to outlive us ;D)

4 dni temu
Planet Fungi
Planet Fungi

It is true they are survivors and although there are fungi like the ones you describe that can do harm to people much more of the fungi on the planet are incredibly important to sustaining life on the planet rather than killing it - or a bit of both.
